About The Opportunity
We have an opportunity for a
Contracts Specialist to join the Centerra Corporate team. This is a remote, work from home, position open to candidates in Toronto or remotely within Canada.
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Project Procurement, the Contracts Specialist is responsible for the development, negotiation, execution and management of Project related contracts in accordance with Centerra’s Global Procurement Policy. This position supports the source to contract process, works closely with both internal and external stakeholders, and helps drive Project cost and schedule. The Contracts Specialist acts as a key interface between engineering, management, contractors, construction and site operations.
Core Objectives
- Support source to contract activities for Major Studies and Capital Projects including sourcing, bid evaluation, negotiation and contract award
- Supports contract management activities working closely with internal stakeholders and suppliers
- Maintains strong relationships with major suppliers and monitors supplier performance
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures and industry standards
Your Responsibilities Will Include, But Are Not Limited To
Sourcing
- Develop and execute sourcing strategies and planning for studies and major projects
- Assess risks and propose sourcing and contracting strategies to mitigate project risks
- Prepare and issue RFx, evaluate bids, and lead negotiation
- Conduct market research to identify new suppliers and alternative solutions
Contract Development and Negotiation
- Prepare, review and revise contracts and other agreements for professional services, equipment, materials and other services
- Liaise with legal counsel and suppliers to negotiate contract terms and conditions
- Conduct negotiations with suppliers to establish mutually beneficial contracts compliance with Centerra’s policies and procedures
Contract Management
- Organize and lead contract kick off meetings with contractors and internal stakeholders
- Ensure all parties understand the contract requirements, deliverables and schedule
- Coordinate closely with technical contract owner for performance and progress monitoring
- Prepare and review contract change orders
- Maintain commitment log
- Facilitate progress meetings as required and document minutes actions and decisions
- Support resolution of contract disputes, delays and claims
- Support with the review of invoices and progress claims ensuring contract compliance
- Coordinate contract closeout
- Act as primary contact for contractual matters for Procurement team
Other
- Maintain accurate and organized contract documentation and records, trackers and other databases
- Ensure compliance with Global and Project specific policies and procedures, support with enhancement of procedures to address pain points and take advantages of opportunities to streamline
- Work closely with internal stakeholders including but not limited to management, construction, engineering and Site Operations
- Performs any other responsibilities related to the Contract Specialist role as required or as assigned by the department lead
About You
The following will be critical to successfully performing this role:
- 3+ years of experience with contract drafting, negotiation and change management
- Post- secondary education or professional designation in business, finance, law, supply chain or other related discipline.
- Experience in mining, heavy civil or construction industries an asset
- Experience with major capital projects contracting for professional services and complex packages an asset
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for interfacing with internal stakeholders, suppliers and senior management
- Ability to work with minimal supervision, showing initiative and ownership of tasks
- Detail oriented and organized
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues under tight deadlines and multiple priorities
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- An independent, self-motivated individual with the ability to work in a team environment with many stakeholders.
